18GB USB Removable Disk Data Transfer Systems

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada - February 1, 2005 — Targa Systems Division of L-3 Communications, accelerating its leadership in providing solid-state data storage solutions for military & aerospace applications, today announced the Series 4 18GB USB Interface Data Transfer Systems for the Military and Aerospace markets. The Series 4 DTU product line incorporates a 2.5” removable disk and provides for true 2.5” disk removability in harsh and rugged military & aerospace applications.

Targa’s USB 1.1 & USB 2.0 "bulk transport" compliant Data Transfer Systems (DTS) have been developed to meet the demands for increasing interface speed, flexibility and ease of integration.

The USB interface has been added to both of Targa’s PC Card (Series 3) and Removable Disk (Series 4) Data Transfer System product lines.

The removable 2 ½” FLASH disks are available in capacities from 256MB to 18GBytes and are capable of supporting the highest USB “bulk transport” data rates. Capacities will soon be doubled to 36GB in the same form factor. They feature a rugged, military grade connector for multiple insertions/removals.

The Series 4 DTU product is available in a compact (k=4) Dzus rail panel mount (CDU style) form factor unit with either 28Vdc or 5Vdc power input. It is also available with a SCSI interface.
